Imagine a time when you drive up to a McDonald's and order a Big mac, large fry and a coke. Pay with a NFC or text message and drive around to a window to find you food waiting for you to simply pick up off a counter.

No friendly face greeting you. Just your food nicely packaged hot and ready to eat.

While not necessarily required for the above scenario to be implemented the 3D food printer could revolutionize the fast food market.

The food printer is only at the concept design stage, and would work by storing and refrigerating ingredients and then mixing them, cooking layers of the mixture and printing them onto a serving tray.

The concept design was introduced by two graduate students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Fluid Interfaces Group Media Lab. Heck, I want one for my own kitchen!
